What do you need to measure?
A soft measuring tape and about two minutes. If you do not have a fabric tape, a piece of string measured against a ruler works just as well.
How do you measure your waist and hips?
- Hips: measure around the fullest part of your hips and bottom, keeping the tape parallel to the floor. This is the measurement that decides your panty size.
- Waist: wrap the tape around the narrowest part of your waist, usually just above the belly button. Keep it level and snug, not tight. This matters more for high-waisted styles.
Measure over bare skin or thin underwear, not over clothing, and do not pull the tape tight.
Which measurement matters most for underwear?
Your hip measurement. Match it to the chart above, and check the size guide on the product page, since charts vary slightly between styles and brands.

What size should you choose if you're between sizes?
Size up. For everyday underwear the larger size is more comfortable and prevents digging or visible lines.
A correct, smooth fit also lasts longer, because the fabric is not over-stretched. Underwear that is too small is the usual cause of underwear riding up.
Does seamless underwear fit differently?
Yes — seamless styles have more stretch and a closer fit. They are more forgiving across a size boundary.
