How to Determine Your Bra Size

Finding the right bra is one of the most important things you can do for your body. It's also one of the easiest ways to feel more confident and comfortable in your own skin.

Luckily, sizing is pretty straightforward. Here's how to find your correct size:

1) Stand straight with your shoulders relaxed and arms at your sides. Place a tape measure under your bust at its fullest point, keeping the tape level across both shoulders. Don't pull it too tight! The goal is to get an accurate measurement, not a number that makes you feel like you're being squeezed into a box.

2) Use this measurement to determine your band size: Subtract the number from 32 (your ribcage measurement). That gives you your band size (e.g., 34 inches = 32-2 = 30 band). The larger number is always your bust measurement; the smaller number is always your band measurement. If there's an odd number left over after subtracting from 32, add 1 inch to get the next closest whole number (e.g., if you measured 33 inches, subtracting from 32 gives you 1 inch left over; adding

Do you know what your Bra Size means?

Bra sizes are typically given in sets of two numbers, like 34D or 28FF. The first number indicates the band size—the measurement around your rib cage just under your bust. The second number indicates the cup size—the circumference of your breasts (or how they'd fit into cups).

If you're wearing a properly fitting bra, the band should be snug against your body and shouldn't move up or down throughout the day. If there's any space between your back and the band, it's too big and you should go down a size. If it feels uncomfortably tight, it's too small and you should try going up a size.

The cups should also be snug against your skin, but not so tight that they dig into your skin or create bulges in the cups.
