My bra band has become loose. Can I fix it?
Move to a tighter hook. If you are already on the tightest hook, the bra is finished. This is what the hooks are for.
A new bra should fit on the loosest hook, so that as the elastic relaxes over months of wear, you can move inwards. If a bra fits on the tightest hook when new, the band is too big and you should size down.

My bra straps keep slipping. What do I do?
Tighten the straps first, but if that does not work the band is probably too loose. Slipping straps are usually a symptom of a band problem, not a strap problem.

Can you shrink underwear that has become too big?
Not reliably. A hot wash may shrink cotton slightly, but it will also damage the elastic. This is the honest answer, even though people ask for a trick.
Underwear that has stretched out has lost its elastic. Hot washing might tighten the cotton fibres marginally, but it degrades the elastane at the same time, which is the thing actually holding the shape. You end up with a smaller piece of underwear that still does not hold.

My underwear is digging in. Is it too small?
Yes, and the answer is to size up, not to stretch it out. Underwear that leaves marks or digs in is too small, and it will not stretch to fit.

How do you make underwear and bras last longer?
Wash cold, hand wash bras where possible, and never tumble dry. Heat is what destroys elastic.
- Cold wash. Hot water breaks down elastane.
- Never tumble dry. This is the single fastest way to ruin a bra.
- Rotate. Do not wear the same bra two days running. Elastic needs a day to recover.

When should you simply replace it?
Replace when the elastic has gone, the fabric has thinned, or the size is simply wrong. The signs:
- The bra is loose on the tightest hook
- The waistband no longer lies flat
- The fabric has thinned, greyed or gone bobbly
- It digs in or leaves marks
- You avoid wearing it
That last one is the most reliable test of all. If you never choose it, it has already been replaced in practice.
